For
the adventurous woman, an ALL WOMEN'S CLIMB
of Imja Tse in Nepal will fulfill your needs for physical adventure
and spiritual discoveries. Our special women's emphasis encourages
a unique cultural exchange and support network with rich personal
rewards. Previous experience with mountaineering gear and high altitudes
is recommended. The climbing group size is limited to six, but more
can go on the trek to base camp. The week, long hike to base camp
takes you along the classic trekking route to Everest. Through rhododendron
forests, which harbor the last, remaining red pandas, past the bustling
frontier town of Namche Bazaar and the monetary at Tengboche until
we reach the alpine setting at the base of Imja Tse. From there
the small climbing team, supported by Sherpa women climbers and
led by Elizabeth Dunn (fifteen years experience), will attempt to
stand on a small snow covered spot. A spot 20,305 feet above sea
level and in the shadow of Everest! Those wishing to trek to Imja
Tse base camp are encouraged to join and walk in the footsteps of
history! This peak is not technically difficult, yet requires a
true willingness to try your best while surrounded by Himalayan
giants. If you love mountains this is a sight worth seeing. The
climb leaves in mid-October and takes three weeks. Upon return to
Kathmandu there will be time for sight seeing and shopping.
